This journal is transcribed from a document held in the Archives of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Abner Jackson, president of Hobart College from 1858-1867, kept a daily journal. His daughter transcribed all the entries relevant to the College.
Assistant Professor of Art Michael C. Tinkler obtained funds from the Office of the Provost to have student workers transcribe the Journal so we can make it available to you here.
Kate Brush, William Smith ‘07, and Barbara Johnson, William Smith ‘08 did much of the transcription.
Archivist Linda Clark Benedict is cooperating in the blogging entry by entry through Jackson’s years at Hobart.
Karen Osburn of the Geneva Historical Society has found photographs of Geneva unavailable in the Hobart and William Smith Archives.
